Preserving your reading position

I follow around 200 feeds, down from 500+ when i worked as a tech journalist, most of them from personal blogs. I don’t read every single item any more, but i still like to scan the titles and pick a few articles to read on my commute. Current is perfect for that workflow except for one thing: refreshing the feeds means losing your reading position.

You have to scroll back to the “caught up” indicator, which can take a long time and doesn’t guarantee that you won’t miss a backdated item. I feel like i’m carried by the current (and drowning) rather than watching the current flow (and fishing).

Weirdly enough, i feel like Reeder’s doing it better. It remembers your reading position, and allows you to jump to today’s first item or the latest item. Am i missing something? Am i the only one to be frustrated by that?

The same thing happens when you’re in the “river” or a “current”, you “show more from ” to isolate all the entries for that feed, then “clear” to go back to the full river/current. It skips you back to the top and you have to scroll all the way down to find your previous place.

Hope they update this.
