Feature Request: Prompt for Permission to Sync to iCloud and Provide iCloud Management

I brought my own service ( FreshRSS ) and was pleasantly surprised to see it supported and got that going right away. Cool. I look forward to experiencing the philosophy at work in this app.

I was annoyed to then see that Current automatically created an iCloud sync session. I did not consent to that. I would appreciate it if Current would prompt users for permission to use iCloud as a sync method. Additionally please empower users to manage the iCloud sync: enable/resume sync, disable sync, delete sync, reset/create sync from scratch etc.

I was annoyed enough that I went immediately to my iCloud settings to delete the sync data manually. Then back in Current settings it was complaining about an Error because you guessed it, no more sync data.

I currently do not have any other Apple device other than the Mac. So, there’s no point in maintaining an iCloud sync dotfile. Maybe someday if I get another apple device this will come in handy, but for now, I don’t need it.

I am trying to move towards data sovereignty. I don’t want big tech having any more of my data than they already do.

Respectfully, -

Really good feedback, I’ll do this. You’re right - sorry!

Thanks Terry. Pardon my initial cranky pants vibe. Cheers :clinking_beer_mugs: .

no worries - I’m a huge privacy (and anti-big tech) guy myself and I can’t believe I overlooked this.
